Homework for Tuesday May 15

First off, I want to thank you all for the wonderful Science Fair.  You made me so proud. All the judges were impressed with your work! I have been blessed to spend this year watching each of you grow and learn Biology. Even though it was school work, I hope y'all enjoyed the class as much as I did teaching it.

For homework...refresh what you read on Module #15. Finish up reading it to page 490. Jenna will teach the class since she knows so much about growing plants. (haha) JK!

Homework for April 13 Friday

The Aquarium was awesome. I'm so sorry that some of you missed the trip. 

Homework is to do a write up on one creature that you saw at the Aquarium. If you didn't go, I still would like you to go on the website www.scaquarium.org and pick out a creature to write a one page, single space report. You may use one or two small pictures in your report, but don't have a picture that takes up half the page. Also include the Class or Phylum, Characteristic, Origin (where is it from), description of nature (habit. etc.) and why your chose this creature. This will be due on Friday. I will ask you to stand up in class and tell us about your new friend. 

Also don't forget to look over the frog dissection papers that I handed out. If you were not in class on Tuesday, go to www.mhhe.com/biosci/genbio/virtual_labs/BL_16/BL_16.html. Watch all the videos on the dissection. We are going to dissection on Friday. Yeah!

Homework for April 10

We will do a test over break. Please do it over this weekend so you can remember everything. For extra credit, you can do the Field Study on page 422. It's a really easy and nice to do. When you get back on Tuesday we will do the frog dissection. Yummy!

Finish up reading the Module. We skipped around a bit because of the Fish experiment, so read what you haven't read yet. Do all the 'ON YOUR OWNS' I will give you a test Friday to take home over the break. The only homework you will have is the test and to work on you Science Fair project.

Homework for Tuesday March 27

Please read in your book pages 393 -  403 - Do all the "On Your Owns" up to 13.11 We will be discussing this Module because on Friday, you will be taking home a test. The test will be due when you get back from break. My advice to you....don't wait until the Monday before you come back from break to do your test because then you'll have to reread everything.

Friday Fish Dissection

On Friday we will have the Marine Biology students with us. We are going to dissect at Perch Fish. We are going to skip forward in our reading and read pages 410-419. Please READ the dissection very well. This will be our most challenging dissection so far, so I really need you to know the proceedor. Please be on your best behavior. We might do our dissection in the kitchen downstairs. It's going to be stinky!!!! There will be a in class test on the fish Structures before we dissection.

Finish reading Mod#11
Your test is to do the Study Guide in your book. Don't do the terms or the worm labeling. I will test you on the Worm in class so you do need to know where everything is.  Please write in complete sentences. Show me that you know the information. Don't copy word for word out of the book please. You may use your book to find the answers.

We will dissect Earthworms on Friday. I'm waiting to get them in the mail.

Alert about Test Friday

I was typing up your test and it was really long and hard. SOOOO, just study the odd numbers of Summary #9. No vocab words, but you still will have the written question.

There will be a short essay question:
Using your Bible, give me a verse that supports creation over evolution. What is your opinion on creation verses evolution.

Finish reading up Mod #9 and do the Summary. ( Jenna; Look in the back of the book. Use that Summary) Please have it complete for class.

We will go over it and discuss the chapter.

Friday we will have an in class test on the Module.

Stem Cell papers are Due Tuesday

Remember to follow the hand out that I gave you for the paper.
The question to answer is " Do I believe that embryonic research is morally ethical?" DON'T get freaked out about the paper or if I am for or against it.  I am excited to read what you have to say. There is no wrong or right answer. Email or call me with any concerns.

For Fridays homework -
Please have at least 8 Pros's and 8 Con's of Stem Cell Research. I'm sure you can find lots of info on the Internet. Try to think outside the box. Why are there so many people against it? Politicians, Religion, etc. You can even ask your families and neighbors about what they think of it. Could it be that most people are not educated enough in what the research processes is?

Stem Cell movie on Tuesday again.
Try to do some research on the pros and cons of stem cells.
